Nonlinear Properties of Vielbein Massive Gravity

چکیده
We consider a special theory of massive gravity, which is obtained in a decoupling limit from a bi– gravity theory in the vielbein formulation, with only cosmological constant-like interactions between the two gravitational sectors. We investigate this theory using the Stückelberg method, and construct a ’t Hooft–Feynman gauge fixing in which the tensor, vector and scalar Stückelberg fields are decoupled. We prove that this model has the softest possible ultraviolet behavior which can be expected from any generic (Lorentz invariant) theory of massive gravity, namely that it becomes strong only at the scale Λ3 = (m 2 gMP ) 1/3 . Finally, we confirm that also this model is plagued by a ghost instability, which, in the Stückelberg formalism, arises from quartic scalar–vector and scalar–tensor interactions. 1 E-mail: [email protected] 2 E-mail: [email protected] 3 E-mail: [email protected]

Chiral gravity as a covariant formulation of massive gravity
We present a covariant nonlinear completion of the Fierz–Pauli (FP) mass term for the graviton. The starting observation is that the FP mass is immediately obtained by expanding the cosmological constant term, i.e. the determinant of the vielbein, around Minkowski space to second order in the vielbein perturbations. Since this is an unstable expansion in the standard case, we consider an extend...
متن کاملMatter coupling in partially constrained vielbein formulation of massive gravity
We consider a linear effective vielbein matter coupling without introducing the Boulware-Deser ghost in ghost-free massive gravity. This is achieved in the partially constrained vielbein formulation. We first introduce the formalism and prove the absence of ghost at all scales. As next we investigate the cosmological application of this coupling in this new formulation. We show that even if the...
متن کاملSpherically Symmetric Solutions in a New Braneworld Massive Gravity Theory
In this paper, a combination of the braneworld scenario and covariant de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive Gravity theory is proposed. In this setup, the five-dimensional bulk graviton is considered to be massive. The five dimensional nonlinear ghost-free massive gravity theory affects the 3-brane dynamics and the gravitational potential on the brane. Following the solutions with spherical s...

Coset methods are used to construct the action describing the dynamics associated with the spontaneous breaking of the local symmetries of AdSd+1 space due to the embedding of an AdSd brane. The resulting action is an SO(2, d) invariant AdS form of the Einstein-Hilbert action, which in addition to the AdSd gravitational vielbein, also includes a massive vector field localized on the brane. Its ...
متن کاملCanonical analysis of cosmological topologically massive gravity at the chiral point
Wolfgang Kummer was a pioneer of two-dimensional gravity and a strong advocate of the first order formulation in terms of Cartan variables. In the present work we apply Wolfgang Kummer's philosophy, the 'Vienna School approach', to a specific three-dimensional model of gravity, cos-mological topologically massive gravity at the chiral point. Exploiting a new Chern–Simons representation we perfo...
